  • GB3 is a stepping stone between Formula 4 and Formula 3, with more powerful and faster cars

  • After two years of F1 Academy, this event marks her debut in GB3, moving up from F4

Filipino rising star Bianca Bustamante will make her GB3 Championship debut at the historic Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit next weekend (April 26/27).

The 20-year-old racer will turn her first racing laps in the series at the season opening event for the GB3 Championship, following an intensive lead-up program with her team, Elite Motorsport.

The GB3 Championship is the UK’s premier single-seater category. Bustamante will feature as one of 30 racers on the grid at Silverstone – the first time since her championship-winning karting days that she has competed a full season as part of a mixed (male and female drivers) grid.

The move up to GB3 is set to be the biggest challenge of Bustamante’s racing career to date – not only is it a critical step in her bid to move up to Formula 3 in the future, but it will also require her to quickly learn a whole new series and a more powerful, higher downforce, and faster car: the all-new Tatuus MSV GB3-025.

This new car, which is being introduced to the championship for the first time in 2025, features a completely revised chassis compared to its predecessor, a revamped aerodynamic package providing 35 percent more downforce, and a more powerful engine with a 30bhp power increase. It also features DRS (drag reduction system) for the first time, will benefit from increased mechanical grip thanks to wider tyres, and meets class leading safety standards.

To ensure she is ready for the challenge, Bustamante has been undertaking a comprehensive preparation program in recent months. Intense physical training sessions have been a key component of this program, including a visit to the prestigious 321 Perform training facility in Annecy in France; as well as multiple on-track test sessions with Elite Motorsport at various circuits which will feature on the 2025 GB3 calendar – including Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps.

The opening event of the eight-round 2025 GB3 Championship, featuring three races for the GB3 competitors, will be held alongside the British GT Championship at Silverstone across April 26 and 27. Fans can follow all of the action on the official GB3 website, via the official live stream, and on the Sky Sports F1 channel. For event and series information, visit www.gb-3.net

Bianca Bustamante

Race Driver, Elite Motorsport

“We have left no stone unturned in our preparations, with plenty of testing undertaken with my team in both the old GB3 car and the new. I am really enjoying the higher downforce and am increasing my confidence every time I go out on the track. I have been doing plenty of physical training as well – focusing on strength and endurance which will really help me to take things to a new level. It has been gruelling, but it has been so important to make sure I am ready for this big move up from Formula 4 as I work towards my goal of stepping up to Formula 3 in the future. As we look ahead to April 26 and 27, I could not be more excited or thankful to Elite Motorsport for the trust and confidence they have shown in me and to all of my sponsors for backing me. I have been pushing myself very hard to make sure I am as ready as I can be for what is my most important season to date, and I will continue to do so all season long to ensure I can bring home the results for all those who have placed their faith in me. It all starts at Silverstone!"
